I graduated from Rhode Island School of Design in 1980, having spent one year at RISD Rome on the European Honors Program. Graduating in Landscape Architecture. In rapid succession, I then became a Photographer and now a Jewelry Designer.
The body of photography that I will be showing this summer at the Block Island Gallery encompasses a ten year period when I was either in my studio in a lumber mill along the Housatonic river or on the streets of Sicily. My studio work was a form of “set up” photography based on collective memory of famous Euro-centric paintings producing a series called Tableaux Vivants, created between 1992 and 1998. In the small town of Erice, in north western Sicily, on top of a mountain 756 meters high, I worked from 1999-2001 creating a few series, “Dog’s Eye View of Erice”, “Venus to Virgin” and the “Sikani and Sikuli of Sicily”
Over the summer I will be exhibiting a small selection from each of these series.
This entire body of work was created on FILM with large and medium format cameras with the one time use of a 180 panoramic Noblex camera.
