Tom McAleer
Tom McAleer is a
plein air painter who paints daily despite the inclement New England weather.
This prolific painter’s main focus is on the process described as a quick
therapy session that helps refocus on the daily rhythm of life and how it
relates to the rhythm of nature. Not only does he draw inspiration from
nature and what’s in front of him, but also the constant inspiration from those
folks with disabilities with whom he works for. Tom played an important role in
last years AAMR conference with over three hundred attendees. It focuses on
outsider arts and the importance of its role in supporting folks with
disabilities, and its advantage of helping folks share their stories through
creative expression. Tom also is the administrator of the Top Drawer Art Center
in East Providence Rhode Island. This center has quickly become the leader in
Outsider Arts here in Rhode Island. Tom feels this experience has had a
significant impact on his work as an artist. Contact: mcaleer3054@aol.com
